Unione Micologica Italiana

The Unione Micologica Italiana (UMI) is a social promotion association founded on 2 October 1969 by Prof. Gilberto Govi and Prof. Gabriele Goidànich. Since its establishment, UMI has been dedicated to promoting and supporting studies and research in the field of mycology, both from a botanical perspective and from medical and toxicological viewpoints.

The association aims to foster interest and knowledge about fungi among enthusiasts by creating and maintaining connections between amateurs, professional mycologists, and research institutions. Through its activities, UMI encourages collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the dissemination of scientific culture.UMI is also strongly committed to the protection and conservation of fungal biodiversity, promoting initiatives that raise awareness of the ecological value of fungi and contribute to safeguarding their habitats.
