SCM
Societat Catalana de Micologia
The Catalan Society of Mycology (SCM) was founded in 1973 by a group of naturalists, some of whom were university students and who shared an interest in the knowledge of mushrooms. Influenced by the works of Font i Quer, Codina, Malençon, Bertaux, among other masters of mycology, they attended courses, excursions and exhibitions organised by the Department of Botany of the Faculty of Biology of the University of Barcelona, where they met every week. A close collaboration was also established with the Botanical Institute of Barcelona, directed by Oriol de Bolòs, who was appointed Honorary Member. The initial group of 75 founders has grown to the 300 members we have today.
